As most of my clients, readers and followers already know, the SPARK concept gracefully weaves through five pivotal elements – Service, Purpose, Attraction, Resilience, and Knowing, a concept I share in depth in my book, SPARK: Journey from Success to Significance, as well as through many posts on this blog, videos and podcasts.
In the last blog, we briefly discussed these 5 elements as they seamlessly converge to spark success on the SPARK Arc.
Today let’s address the first pivotal element, your Service Quotient. The Service Quotient refers to the trinity of three foundational pillars of Service that bring alive its essence to rekindle your SPARK, inspiring you to create and contribute in extraordinary ways.
Here are the top three ingredients needed to SPARK the essence of your Service delivery:
1. Apply Your Secret Sauce: Giving More Than Expected
One of the core principles of the Service Quotient is the commitment to give more than is expected. This is not about going through the motions but about infusing your unique essence into everything you do – your Secret Sauce. Whether it’s in your personal or professional life, applying your Secret Sauce means bringing your authentic self to the table. When you contribute with this mindset, you elevate your actions from ordinary to extraordinary.
Consider instances where you can go above and beyond, adding that extra touch that reflects your individuality. Your Secret Sauce not only enriches the lives of others but also reignites your inner spark as you witness the positive impact of your unique contributions.
2. Serve with an Articulated Service Mantra
The second pillar of the Service Quotient emphasizes having a service mantra you create for yourself. My service mantra is I try my best to not turn my back towards a request for Service. It is not always possible to honour every request however I try to respond in the best possible way. For example, if I get a request for donating money and I am unable to give money I offer my time and knowledge pro bono in return. If I am walking on the street and unable to fulfill a request I offer a silent prayer in return and so on. Having a service mantra allows you to optimize the transformative force of service.
3. Offer Service with a “Namaste” or Utmost Respect Mentality
The third concept of the Service Quotient encourages individuals to give of themselves unconditionally and wholeheartedly. This involves adopting the “Namaste” attitude.
Namaste in Sanskrit comes from two words, ‘namaha’, meaning ‘to honour’ or ‘bow down’, and ‘te’ meaning ‘you’. In essence, it means, the divinity within me bows down to the divinity within you.
Offering Service with the “Namaste” attitude essentially means offering Service with the utmost respect and an ever-flowing, abundance mindset. Instead of focusing on what you can gain personally, shift your mindset to what you can contribute to others.
When you serve with a genuine desire to uplift and support those around you, you create a positive ripple effect. The joy and fulfilment derived from selfless Service are unparalleled. By practising the “Namaste” mindset, you not only rekindle your inner spark but also inspire others to do the same, fostering a culture of mutual respect and abundance.
By applying your Secret Sauce, serving with an articulated Service Mantra, and practicing the “Namaste” mentality, you can rekindle your inner spark and make a lasting impact on the lives of those around you.
