When things are fresh, faster resolution is much easier. When you leave things for a while they lose their freshness and clarity causing them to take much longer to resolve and move to action.
Next time you have an important meeting where a few things are discussed, take bullet point notes. As soon as the meeting is over act on them pronto. You will find you will get much more done in a relatively much shorter time.
