25 years ago today, at 10 AM on the tenth day of the tenth month (10:10:10 moment), I received a phone call that would change my life.
The call was a request for me to volunteer my time to help refugees in Asia! My inner voice and with the support from my wife Farzana made me say yes.
The incredible experience of working with people facing abject poverty made me take a bold step. It inspired me to change my career from ‘accounting for business (profit)’ to ‘accounting for life (impact)’. It felt like a crazy step for most people.
Today, 25 years later, not only am I way ahead in my new career but also I get to do what I love to do every single day. Therefore the phone call 25 years ago was priceless.
