Starting with the Positives

This morning when I woke up I felt I had not done much constructive work in the past two days; Not a great feeling! As I went for a walk and reflected about the past two days, I realized that actually there were a lot of wonderful things that had taken place in the past two days including:

– Watching two World Cup games with my daughter, Sahar and my son, Tawfiq. Although both teams we were supporting lost, we had a ball commenting on referees’ decisions, player/coach acting and drama. It was a beautiful bonding experience for the three of us.

– My wife, Farzana and our two children went for a lovely walk near the water, followed by having dinner together, sharing frozen yogurt and ice cream and watching a funny movie. It is rare that our family spends time together, because of busy schedules

– Despite spending a lot of family time, I managed to sleep early and do my regular meditation, exercise and some client follow-up work.

The lesson for me was not to be too hard on myself and start with the positives! Time that is spent with loved ones is seldom a waste.
