Spring

In the United States and the rest of the northern hemisphere, the first day of the spring season is the day of the year when the Sun crosses the celestial equator moving northward (around March 21st). This day is known as the Vernal Equinox. In the Persian tradition New Year falls on Mar 21.

Just as winter symbolizes death, spring symbolizes new life. Trees, plants, fields are beginning to turn green and new life is emerging from the ground.

As we observe the symbolism of new life we offer these potential resolutions:

1. Death bed message:
Articulate in one paragraph a summary of your life at the time of your death. So, in this paragraph ask yourself, “At death bed looking back what would make you feel that your life was a Wow?” Then, align everything you do (business, career, family, finance, spirituality, lifelong learning) with this paragraph and you will experience harmony and congruence in your life.

2. Time of reflection:  Ask yourself, if you could live your life again, what would you change?  Would you:
•       Be more focused on your core offerings and strengths?
•       Be more loving, committed and patient with your family?
•       Have a tight set of priorities?
•       Be more organized at home and work?
•       Look after your health better?
•       Meditate more regularly?

3. Bounce back bigger and stronger: When you are hit with challenges, bounce back bigger and stronger! Life can throw whatever it may, but the impact on you will entirely depend on how you respond.

4. Count your blessings: Whatever blessings you have in your life – be it good health, family, work, or friends – appreciate them, no matter how small they may seem. The more you do that, the more you multiply them.

5.Savour the Journey: Happiness is not a destination, it’s a journey. If you are waiting to be happy, you’ll miss the boat.

Since you cannot change the past, what will you do going forward to incorporate what you would like to change in your life?

How about:

•       Setting goals around each of the items mentioned above?
•       Reading your goals every night before you go to sleep and every morning when you wake up
•       Evaluating your progress every week and taking baby steps to improve, so that next year, when you reflect on your life, you will have a different set of advancements to work on?

Remember that life at any given point is a work in progress, never a finished product.

Spring is a time to express gratitude for the gift of life, family, friends, and health. It is a time to be humble for the success that you have achieved with the help of many others.

This Spring, commit to serving others with your wisdom, time and resources. For when your life comes to its conclusion, you do not take what you have, but what you gave!

Happy New Beginning!
