Observe!

Observe your life and see things you never saw before. Start today!

When you observe your life:

  1. You come to know yourself better. Knowing yourself is a lifelong process. Lao Tzu said “He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.” Observation enables one to know oneself better.
  2. Evaluate your actions and behaviour compared to your goals. Our actions and behaviours are usually not what we think they are. Our cursory viewing of our life does not reveal our flaws. Observation highlights reality!
  3. By observation, you heighten your awareness and shift your behaviour towards what you want.

Try this today: Write down three top things in work and three top things in your personal life you want to accomplish today. Pick the most important, not just the urgent. Several times in the day observe your performance and focus around these three work and personal priorities. By doing this exercise not only will you perform better on achieving these priorities but you will also improve your observation capability.
