Goal Posts

“I seldom end up where I wanted to go, but I almost always end up where I need to be” ~ Douglas Adams

Yesterday was the 11th anniversary of the publication of my first book “Seven Steps to Lasting Happiness” released July 13, 1999. It has since been translated in several languages and printed several times.

Am I satisfied with my accomplishments? Are they what I had envisaged?

The answer is yes and no.

Yes, from the perspective that I am further ahead in my new career than I was in my accounting career even though I had 3 professional accounting degrees. No, from the perspective that my business model is not the same as I had planned it to be. It has evolved and is completely different from what I had envisaged. Even though the strategy and game plan have changed, the goal posts have always remain the same.

I believe that keeping the same vision as I had way back on July 13, 1999, has allowed me to be focused and closer to my vision.

How about you? Are you clear about your goal posts?
