I struggle with detachment as I am an avid goal setter – setting goals for the year, quarter, monthly, weekly, daily. How then can I be detached when I am so attached to my goals?

The key is to let the joy be in the aspiration and perspiration towards the goal! This way one is not deferring one’s joy to when you reach the goal but rather having the joy all the way towards reaching the goal.

Having crystal clarity around your goals, taking daily action towards these goals, and then letting go of the outcome allows you to focus on your actions and let outcomes be the byproducts. The joy is not only in achieving your goal but also in aspiring and perspiring towards your goal!

One of the founders of Sufism once remarked that detachment is not that you should own nothing but rather that nothing should own you.
