This morning I was set to do some serious work. However, my son Tawfiq wanted me to watch a game with him: Manchester United playing Newcastle at Old Trafford. I was leaning toward working as watching a game can be stressful for me and I had a lot of catching up to do. However, I chose to watch the game with my son. On the surface, I kept the more important work pending and watched a less important game. Not a wise choice?! However, for me it was not about watching the game but bonding with my son, albeit while watching a game together. In the 90 minutes of watching a game together we bonded, shared commentary, praised and critiqued the players and plays. It was a thrilling game creating a magical, memorable experience for both of us. After the game I doubled up my focus on the work and probably will end up doing more work by the end of day.
