
I struggle with detachment as I am an avid goal setter – setting goals for the year, quarter, monthly, weekly. How then can I be detached when I am so attached to my goals?
The way to be detached is to be crystal clear about goals, take daily action towards these goals and then let go of the outcome.
Aspire always and let the SPARK be in the aspiration and perspiration towards the goal! This way one is not deferring one’s SPARK only when you reach the goal but rather having the SPARK all the way towards reaching the goal.
Ali ibn abi Talib (RA) sums it up beautifully:
“Detachment is not that you should own nothing. But that nothing should own you.”
