Observe!

Observe your life and see things that you never saw before.

When you observe your life:

1. You come to know yourself better. Knowing yourself is a lifelong process. Lao Tzu said “He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.” Observation enables one to know oneself better.

2. Evaluate your actions and behavior compared to your goals. Our actions and behaviors are usually not what we think they are. Our cursory viewing of our life does not reveal our flaws. However, observation highlights reality!

3. You become more focused on what is most important to you. By observation, you heighten your awareness and shift your behavior towards what you want.

Try this today: Write down three things at work and three things in your personal life that you would like to accomplish today. Pick the most important, not just the urgent ones.

Several times in the day observe your performance and focus on these three work and personal priorities. By doing this exercise you will not only perform better in achieving these priorities but also improve your observation capability. Try this today – not much to lose to do so.
