Channeling Loss into a Living Legacy

When someone you love is gone, it can feel like the light has been switched off in a room you thought you knew well.

Yet, as I’ve learned through my journey, grief can also be a powerful teacher—one that, if we allow it, can guide us toward acts of service, compassion, and meaningful change. This is the heart of the SPARK philosophy: finding purpose in life’s most challenging moments and using it to ignite something greater than ourselves.

In memory of my wife, Farzana, we are raising funds that will go toward overlooked and under-researched women’s cancers. Within a very short time, we have raised nearly $40,000! We have been reassured by the Canadian Cancer Society that 100% of all the funds raised will go directly towards our designated cause. Additionally, our family will be matching every dollar of the funds raised throughout this year.

Though the last couple of years have not been easy, we would like to remember Farzana during all the good times and create an everlasting legacy. Hopefully, this act will play a small part in someone else’s life.
