Enough time
We hear the lament often of there not being enough time.
Not enough time to exercise, not enough time to read, not enough time to catch up on our work, not enough time to meditate, to plan and the list goes on.
This is both true and false.
True because there is a lot to do to be successful. We have our work, family, health, spiritual, financial and social commitments. The demands from all these angles keep getting more and more. Competition also gets more and more intense. Technology and other new things keep us on our toes as we try to cope with immense change.
However, this claim is also false because we waste a lot of time with unnecessary interruptions, lack of focus and planning, fire fighting and emotional baggage. Much could be accomplished if we consistently did small amounts of something every day.
Twenty minutes a day of meditation means more than a hundred hours of meditation in a year! So would be the case with reading – twenty minutes a day would turn into reading more than twenty-five books a year! As would be the case with exercising, and even writing!
By clear focus on prioritizing, managing unnecessary interruptions and being consistent everyday, we can convert our lament of “not enough time,” to having enough to do the things that matter most!
Do you want to play at high level?
You have to decide at what level you want to play your game. Do you want to play in the Premier League or in Division IV?
If you want to play at the top level, then everything you do has to reflect that. How you and your team interact with clients, employees and other stakeholders has to reflect top-level attitude and outlook.
If you want to play at the top level but part of you believes you are not at that level, it will manifest in your behaviour. Your own demeanour has to align with that top-level standard. What you feel within you translates into your actions, reactions and overall behaviour. Self-confidence comes about when you have paid the price to be better and better every day. You have become a lifelong learner to fully appreciate the value of growth and wisdom.
Every day you have a choice of doing things as they come along or focusing on priorities.
Focusing on key priorities creates the best outcome. Your attention and energy are directed and channelled. Some people work on outputs instead of outcomes, but at the end of the day it is the outcome or the results that count, not the effort or output.
