Give!

beautiful butterfly in nature

When you die, you don’t take what you have; you take what you gave!

Money has its own place, and it is irreplaceable for those who are looking for ways to meet their basic needs. But other commodities have values that can’t be expressed in monetary terms. You can give others your honesty, and that gift can never make you poor. You can get rich by lying, but the lies won’t bring you happiness.

Give others your respect, your care, and your compassion: This world needs nothing more than it needs compassionate people who care and are concerned about others. Give others your energy as well, and let them be fired up with a sense of excitement toward life. Give them your experience, so that they can learn from your efforts and mistakes.

Let us all emulate the attitude of the Dalai Lama: “As long as space remains, so long as sentient beings’ suffering remains, I will remain, in order to help, in order to serve…”
